I work with individual adults ages 18 and older and couples/relationships. My specialties are trauma and EMDR, couples and relationship therapy, and affirming care for queer and trans adults.

Yes. I'm trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an extensively researched, evidence-based therapy developed by Francine Shapiro and recognized as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or tapping, to help your brain reprocess memories that have stayed stuck, so the past can finally feel like the past. I offer EMDR in person in Austin and virtually online across Texas.

We'll begin with a session or two together for assessment, then I'll meet with each of you individually before we come back together for the ongoing work. Sessions are 50 or 80 minutes, and many couples find the longer sessions give the work the room it needs. My approach is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a research-supported model, and sessions tend to feel different from the conversations you have at home: slower, with me actively involved. I'll interrupt the familiar argument before it takes over, help each of you notice what's happening underneath your reactions, and at times invite you to turn and say something directly to each other rather than through me. Those moments can feel vulnerable, and they're often where things start to shift; partners frequently hear something they've never quite heard before, even in fights they've had a hundred times. I work with relationships of all configurations, and the pace is always one your relationship can actually sustain.

Yes. Emily Manning Therapy is an LGBTQIA+ affirming practice, and I'm a queer-identified therapist myself. I work with queer, trans, non-binary, and gender-expansive individuals and relationships, and I deeply value creating a space where you don't have to explain or defend your identity in order to receive care. All relationship structures are welcome.
-
Yes. I offer virtual therapy to adults located anywhere in Texas, along with in-person sessions at my Austin office.

Individual therapy is $160 per 50-minute session or $255 per 80-minute session. Relationship therapy is $180 per 50-minute session or $285 per 80-minute session.

I'm an out-of-network provider and don't bill insurance directly. I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, and HSA or FSA funds can be used to pay for sessions. I recommend checking your out-of-network benefits before we begin services.

I offer equity pricing for clients on a limited income, especially those holding historically oppressed identities, who need financial assistance to make care accessible. These spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. My equity fee spots are currently full, but I'm happy to add you to the waiting list or provide referrals for lower-cost therapy in Austin.
-
I ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee.

It depends on what you're coming in with and what you're hoping for. Meaningful change is rarely immediate, and we'll check in regularly about how the work is feeling. When the time comes, ending well is part of the therapy too.
-
Not usually, and that's on purpose. My job is to help you see yourself and your patterns more clearly, so the choices you make are genuinely yours. That kind of clarity tends to outlast any advice I could give.
-
I hope you'll tell me. Moments of disappointment, frustration, or disconnection are a normal part of meaningful therapy, and they're often where the most important work lives. Naming what's happening between us, and repairing it together, is frequently how old relational patterns begin to shift.
